United hasn’t won since March 17

Preview: The Loons (2-4) are trying to break a three-game losing streak. The Sounders (0-3-1) scored their first two goals of the season in their last game, a 2-2 tie with Sporting KC. Clint Dempsey, Seattle’s leading scorer last season, returns from a two-match suspension for receiving a red card. Dempsey is one of Seattle’s three designated players, which is the league maximum for players who earn more than what the salary cap typically allows. The Loons recently added their first designated player, Darwin Quintero. Quintero scored in his debut, a 3-2 loss last weekend at Portland. Minnesota United also added Alexi Gomez to the team via loan.

Quotable: “Last year, when we played on the road it was, ‘Ah maybe we get three points,’ ” Francisco Calvo said. “Now, this year, every game we go away we’re like, ‘No, we have [the] biggest chance to get three points every stadium we go in.’ ”

Injuries: Loons defender Tyrone Mears (calf) and midfielder Sam Cronin (neck/head) are out; defender Mark Burch (knee) is questionable. Sounders forward Jordan Morris (torn ACL) and defender Kim Kee-Hee (calf) are out; defender Waylon Francis (hamstring) and midfielder Harry Shipp (ankle) are questionable.
